Business Background: A leading citizen of Seychelles, Basil Soundy is the Managing Director of Bodco Limited group of companies, based in the Republic of Seychelles. He is a former Chairman and current Councillor of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). He began a career in agriculture in Kenya (East Africa) from 1961 to 1966, after serving with the Kenya Regiment (military) in 1960. Mr. Soundy established Bodco Limited in the Seychelles in late 1966 as property and real estate developers, later expanding to importers of construction materials, builders merchants and furniture manufacturers. Former Chairman of Federation of Employers Association of Seychelles (FEAS) 1985-2003.

Associations & Honours: Basil Soundy is a Freemason and the former Chief Scout of the Seychelles Scouts Association and recently retired as an Executive Board Member of the Africa Scout Foundation, a body set-up by the World Scout Bureau to assist the less fortunate children of Africa through the development of Scouting. Mr. Soundy is the Founder and former President of St. Michel United Football Club, a top soccer club in Seychelles and in Africa. Mr. Soundy’s personal goal is to “help young people to help themselves” and to combat substance abuse by teenagers and young people. Awards & Decorations: Mr. Basil Soundy was awarded the Knighthood of the Royal Order of the Polar Star of Sweden (1993) by His Majesty the King of Sweden, and was made a Knight of the Order of the Danebrog (Chapitre des Ordres de Chevalerie de Denemark) by Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark (1998). Mr. Soundy was made a Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the Lion of Finland, November 2012.

Education: Mr. Basil Soundy was born in England in March 1942 and educated in the U.K., Tanganyika, Kenya and South Africa. He has both British and Seychelles Nationality.
Other Information: Married to Vivienne, Mr. Soundy has two foster daughters, both married and one son. Basil Soundy is a Christian who is politically conservative. He is known to be guarded about giving personal information to the press and media, although he enjoys public speaking. He also enjoys golf, game fishing, reading, music, theatre and photography. Mr. Soundy has served as a Board Member of SIBA (Seychelles International Business Authority) for a period of six years at its inception.
